Mastering the Art of Modern Conveyancing: An MD’s perspective

Dan Hickey, Managing Director of PLS Solicitors has provided his take on the importance of technology in the conveyancing process.

In the age of innovative services like Chat-GPT, Claude AI, and Amazon’s Alexa, one thing’s for sure, consumers have become accustomed to fast, effortless digital services. Be it grocery shopping online or even buying a house, tech-enabled speed is the name of the game.

While AI-based tools might look like an overnight success, they’ve been a long time coming. Analyst firms like Gartner and Forrester have murmured about AI, automation, and case management platforms for over a decade.

In fact, when I was Head of Process of the Affinity Division at Pannone ten years ago, my entire role centred around harnessing technology to design and implement new processes for continual business improvement.

Progressive thinking garners results

It’s fair to say I’ve had the bug for innovation for a long time. When I started my career as a solicitor, I always had a keen eye for efficiency. That’s why I’m always asking ‘how can we improve things for the customer, our people, and the business’?

The founders at PLS share this mindset, and it’s what drew me to the company eight years ago. Aash and Rob had a vision: to be a modern-day law firm for the modern-day home buyer. And they wanted me to help them build it.

Technology-led, people-centered

Fast forward to today and I’m immensely proud of the strides we’ve made. Technology is not just a part of our business; it’s woven into its very fabric. From the PLS Portal 24/7 to our Amazon Alexa Integration, our clients trust us to deliver a swift, transparent, and professional service, backed by round-the-clock technology.

Our digital philosophy revolves around the belief that there’s always more to explore. We don’t rest on our laurels; we’re relentless innovators, constantly analysing and refining our workflows to ensure they prioritise our customers and push the boundaries of innovation.

Looking ahead

Undoubtedly, as technology continues to evolve at lightning speed, the next few years are going to be both thrilling and disruptive for the conveyancing industry (and many other sectors too!).

At PLS, we welcome the pace of change. We’re proud to be a progressive, forward-thinking law firm offering modern, transparent conveyancing solutions for today’s digital-savvy consumer.
