Whether we are the technophobes or the geeks, there is no doubt that technology has transformed the way we live, work and play

Without social technology firsts like the iPhone and Facebook or innovators like Microsoft and AWS, life would be very different during a crisis. Love it or not, technology has brought people together and comes into its own when the nation is locked down.

Over the past 10 days, we have seen stories where the elderly have been learning how to use Facetime to stay in touch with their loved ones. We have seen families creating quiz nights across nations or giving Les Mis concerts using tools like Skype and Zoom! There is even the odd Tik Toker creeping into that older generation. These are fantastic platforms providing an opportunity for us to stay in touch and make each other smile.

Technology at its best

Last year the PLS 24/7 portal was launched via the App Store and has been invaluable at this time (iOS and Android.)

As a modern conveyancer, we have always invested in better ways of providing a service so that our customers can be in control of their case – whether from the comfort of their own home or if  they are travelling for thousands of miles. No matter where they are, they have transparency, access and flexibility.

Since we launched the desktop version only five years ago, we are really proud of what we have achieved with our technology infrastructure. In that time we have helped tens of thousands of customers with a more simplistic way of viewing contracts, uploading documents securely and signing for their new home.

Initially our platform was only used by the younger professionals but now we are seeing more of the generations using our software – from growing families to downsizers.

During this challenging time, the home move sector is significantly affected and this could continue for the foreseeable future. In the past week, we have come across some cases where clients have not been able to visit their conveyancers’ office which has resulted in a slow down or complete hold on the transaction but with our system, this is not necessary.

Whilst the government guidelines are clear – we must stay home and not visit any other property, if you are in the process of undertaking your home move – this platform can help our customers feel secure in their transaction.
